Very well organised tour. Went on my own and was great setting my own pace. Loi my guide is a lovely man full of information. Even liked the drive there.
It was just perfect. Funny, complete, always at time… Ms Tee and the driver were kind all the time. Don’t miss the Mekong Delta, is a unique experience.
I travelled for the first time to Ho Chi Minh with my husband and 3 kids and had been lucky to be in contact with Jenny at Vietnam Discovery. Jenny even arranged for our visa application, airport transfers and private tours to Cu Chi tunnels and to Mekong delta. The vehicles were impeccably clean and almost new and the driver and guide very friendly and helpful. A special thanks also to our guide, Luu Binh, whose company my kids enjoyed. Thank you Vietnam discovery for making our short trip very sweet and enjoyable.
A great combination of both local cultures and sceneries in land and on boat ever! Thanks to its geographic feature of both land and waterway region, “Immense Mekong Discovery” is truly an unforgettable experience for those who want to enjoy two ways of life. Getting on the main transportation here- floating boat – and you will be taken to discover every attractive corner and the gorgeousness of this waterway region together. Flowing through the water currents then weaving through the canals like an interlaced network and then gardens of fruits in along with resident communities will be shown in your eyes.
Don’t miss the chance to be shown the fantastic mixture of interesting things in this Mekong delta tour. It is made to be sure bringing you remarkable moments from visiting floating markets, handicraft-making villages to exploring maze canals and hidden island on boat trips.
Why we included this experience?
Visit floating markets and traditional handicraft workshops which are remarkable features of Mekong Delta River
Truly experience daily life of locals at Cai Be and Cai Rang traditional floating markets
Join and immerse yourself into residents’ life through activities including collecting fruits, catching fish and crossing the monkey bridge, etc.
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Cai Be – Can Tho (L/D)
08:00: Be picked up at hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, head toward Cai Be District (2-hour drive)
Upon arrival at Cai Be wharf, there is a small boat already there waiting to take you around the island with incredible activities showing clearly the unique culture here including conventional handicraft workshops as well as listening to Tai Tu Music along Mekong Delta River banks.
Moving along the canals, then here we are at one of the most luxuriant fruits orchards of Southern Vietnam where there are tons of tropical products available for you to harvest, try at once and bring them home as well. Admiration with the stunning sceneries on the way, our boat reaches Can Tho without any awareness, and it’s time for us to check-in hotel and get ready to discover Can Tho City at night as your personal schedule.
Day 2: Can Tho – Cai Rang Floating Market (B/L/D)
Buying goods, exchanging money or bargaining with sellers right on moving boats – have you tried before then? So just make sure to get everything complete before our guide picking you up at Ninh Kieu wharf and taking all to Cai Rang floating market where you will definitely have a wonderful time ever.
Cai Rang floating market is 4km far away from Ninh Kieu wharf, and right the time you get there, you must be attracted by the hustling and busting purchasing life of all farmers and fishermen here. Boats are also their homes so don’t be so surprised when you see families traveling smoothly and skillfully like on land just like us. The sampan will take you to the local fruits gardens one more time to make sure all of you have full admiration of the countryside life of nurturing nature before returning the hotel and have lunch at a native restaurant in Can Tho.
There are wide choices of activities in Can Tho you can join to have profounder understandings of residents’ life such as catching fish and crafts, crossing monkey bridges, picking up coconuts, or just simply taking and sharing regular stories between friendly strangers. Having dinner with local hosts must be an unforgettable memory when you are treated so many specialties cooked in a distinctive way; or spending time catching fireflies with children in the nice weather is another cherished moment in this trip.
Overnight at the home-stay.
Day 3: Can Tho – Chau Doc (B/L/D)
Chau Doc, which is 3-hour drive from Can Tho, will be our next stop in this 4-day journey.
Chau Doc is well known to tourists as the journey of repatriation where is famous for its Ba Chua Xu Temple and the biggest mosque of Cham community and of course is the land of great combination of people and natural, cultural values.
In the afternoon, Khmer Temple, local fishing farm and Sam Mountain are also other destinations for you to discover too. And even if you are not a professional photographer, don’t forget to take some pictures when the Sun is dropping after the mountain range far away because it’s truly breathtaking and mind-blowing spectacles you will never want to lose.
