“The Mekong Delta Green Tourism Week 2015 was successfully organized from June 26 to July 2 in Phu Thu ward in the Cai Rang district”, said Deputy Head of the Southwest Region Steering Committee Nguyen Phong Quang.
Right from March 5, the final plans for the Mekong Delta Green Tourism Week 2015 was already approved during a meeting between the Southwest Region Steering Committee and the Mekong Delta Can Tho city authorities and relevant bodies.
There were a variety of activities, including a fair with 1,200-1,500 booths, cuisine and street festivals, Miss Delta Pageant finale, an art performance contest for tour guides, and a sequence of forums and talks to promote regional tourism.
This event was held with the purpose of enhancing sustainable tourism development as well as raising investment in the region as part of Vietnam’s tourism development strategy through 2020, particularly in green tourism. Authorities also hope the event help identify ways to create connections between regional destinations, other local and international sites in addition to attract more visitors.
The Tourism Week was co-organized by the Steering Committee in conjunction with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Can Tho municipal People’s Committee.
